Alexandre Bernardino holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST, University of Lisbon (2004). He is a tenured Associate Professor at IST and a senior researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics. He has published ~300 papers in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and cognitive systems, with over 9000 citations and an h-index of 45. He has supervised 22 PhD students and led multiple national and international research projects. His research focuses on applying vision, learning, and control to advanced robotics.
