Endocrinologist. Licensed and PhD from the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon (FML). Associate Professor with Aggregation from FML. Director of the Endocrinology Service at HSM until 2013. Responsible between 2005 and 2013 for coordinating HSM/Lisbon North Health Centers. Head of the Endocrinology Department until 2010. Founder of the FML (IFA) Course on Metabolic Diseases and Eating Behavior and current member of its scientific council and teaching staff. Founder of the Portuguese Society for the Study of Obesity and the Center for Eating Disorders. Chair of the Scientific Council of the DGS Platform against Obesity until its closure in 2011. Published several books and scientific articles in the field of health, nutrition, and politics.
